On the afternoon of March 12, 2026, the Youth Union of the Can Tho Center for Science and Technology Application and Services organized an inspiring thematic activity at the Can Tho City Museum. More than just a regular visit, the event provided young members with an opportunity to connect with history, deepen their understanding of local cultural identity, and strengthen their sense of civic responsibility ahead of the upcoming election period.

1. Traveling Through Time to Discover the Soul of the Mekong Delta

Dressed in the vibrant blue uniforms of Vietnamese youth volunteers, the delegation began their journey on the museum’s first floor, where valuable historical artifacts preserve the story of Can Tho from ancient times to the present day.

Ancient Heritage

Archaeological artifacts from the Oc Eo Culture discovered at the Nhon Thanh archaeological site opened a fascinating window into the ancient riverine civilization that once flourished in the Mekong Delta.

Cultural Diversity

The cultural exchange among the Kinh, Hoa, and Khmer ethnic communities was vividly showcased through traditional house models, musical instruments, and religious artifacts, highlighting the rich multicultural heritage of the region.

Iconic Images of the Region

The young participants were particularly impressed by the model of the historic Binh Thuy Communal House, traditional wedding costumes, and the majestic Ngo boat of the Khmer people, all of which reflect the unique cultural identity of the Mekong Delta.

2. The Heroic Spirit of Tay Do and Lessons in Patriotism

Moving to the second floor, the atmosphere became more solemn as participants explored documentary footage and wartime artifacts that vividly portrayed the region’s revolutionary history.

Memories of Resistance

Weapons, military equipment, and personal belongings used by soldiers and civilians from Can Tho and Hau Giang recounted stories of resilience and sacrifice during the resistance wars against French colonialism and American intervention.

National Pride

Through engaging and insightful presentations by museum guides, the young members gained a deeper appreciation for the values of independence, peace, and national sovereignty that generations before them fought to achieve.

3. “The Party’s Will – The People’s Aspiration”: Connecting History with Civic Responsibility

The highlight of the visit was the special exhibition dedicated to the National Assembly and the People’s Councils.

More Than 140 Valuable Images and Documents

The exhibition vividly illustrated the 80-year journey of development of Vietnam’s highest state power institutions, showcasing important milestones in the nation’s democratic governance.

Democratic Ideals

Youth members had the opportunity to learn more about President Ho Chi Minh’s democratic philosophy, which serves as the foundation for building a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

Civic Responsibility

The activity also contributed to raising awareness about the upcoming elections for the 16th National Assembly and the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. It encouraged young people to recognize their responsibility in selecting representatives who reflect their aspirations and interests.

The journey may have come to an end, but the lessons and values related to culture, history, patriotism, and democracy remain deeply embedded in the hearts of every participant. These experiences serve as a valuable source of inspiration, motivating the youth of the Center to continue contributing, innovating, and fulfilling their rights and responsibilities as citizens in a new era.
