PROMOTING OCOP PRODUCT TRACEABILITY IN ASSOCIATION WITH DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND E-COMMERCE

As part of the event “Technology Supply-Demand Connection – Key Products and OCOP Products Associated with Product Traceability in Can Tho City 2026,” a scientific workshop entitled “OCOP Product Traceability in Association with Digital Transformation and E-Commerce” was held on the afternoon of May 28 at the Can Tho Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances.

The workshop was chaired by Mr. Bui Minh Chau, Deputy Director of the Can Tho Department of Science and Technology, and attracted the participation of numerous experts, policymakers, business representatives, and OCOP producers throughout the city. The event aimed to strengthen the connection between science and technology and production and business activities, while promoting the application of digital transformation in the development of OCOP products toward a modern and sustainable direction.

Opening Remarks

In his opening speech, Mr. Bui Minh Chau emphasized the crucial role of product traceability in enhancing the value, quality, and competitiveness of OCOP products amid the rapid advancement of digital transformation. According to him, the application of modern technologies not only improves product information transparency but also builds consumer trust and expands access to both domestic and international markets.

Sharing Technological Solutions for Product Traceability

During the workshop, several in-depth presentations focused on digital technology solutions for product traceability. Participants shared practical experiences in implementing traceability systems to improve production efficiency, management effectiveness, and market access for OCOP products.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duy Dat, one of the keynote speakers, presented valuable insights into strategies for enhancing the competitiveness of OCOP products through digital platforms and traceability integration.

A notable presentation was delivered by Ms. Bui Ngoc Le, Chief Executive Officer of Deep Pro Group Joint Stock Company, who introduced solutions that combine Blockchain technology and QR codes for the traceability of agricultural and OCOP products. According to Ms. Le, the adoption of digital technologies can significantly improve transparency, combat counterfeit products, and enhance supply chain management efficiency.

Bringing OCOP Products to E-Commerce Platforms

Another important presentation was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duy Dat, focusing on strategies for promoting Can Tho’s OCOP products on e-commerce platforms. The presentation analyzed opportunities and challenges while proposing various solutions to integrate traceability systems into online sales channels, thereby improving product competitiveness in the digital marketplace.

Meeting International Market Requirements

A presentation that attracted considerable attention was delivered by Dr. Mai Thanh Huyen of Thuongmai University, addressing the technical requirements and traceability standards imposed by the Chinese market on imported fresh fruits. The presentation provided valuable recommendations and strategic directions to help Can Tho adapt to increasingly stringent international market requirements and improve export opportunities.

Dynamic Discussions and Future Cooperation

The discussion session was lively and productive, with contributions from experts, businesses, researchers, and delegates. Participants unanimously agreed that accelerating the adoption of digital technologies and establishing synchronized traceability systems is an inevitable trend for enhancing the value of OCOP products and supporting local economic development in the era of digital transformation.

The workshop concluded at 5:00 PM on the same day, opening up new opportunities for collaboration among government agencies, enterprises, and research institutions in applying science and technology to the sustainable development of OCOP products.

The event reaffirmed Can Tho City's commitment to promoting digital transformation, strengthening product traceability systems, and enhancing the competitiveness of local products in both domestic and international markets.
