If the fungal preparation has been cultured for 14 days and no brown planthoppers are detected in the field, it may be stored at room temperature for an additional 7–10 days. However, the substrate should be mixed thoroughly every 2–3 days to ensure normal fungal growth and prevent spoilage.

Application Methods

The use of the green fungus biopesticide in rice fields can be divided into three scenarios:
Case 1: Fields with Normal Brown Planthopper Populations
(Approximately 1–3 insects per rice tiller)
Apply the fungal preparation in two treatments:
First Application:
Spray to establish the fungal population at 15–25 days after sowing.
Second Application:
Spray again at 45–55 days after sowing.
Case 2: Fields with Migratory Brown Planthoppers After Sowing
If migratory brown planthoppers invade the field after sowing, apply the green fungus in three treatments:
First Application:
Spray when the brown planthopper population reaches its peak emergence.
Second Application:
Spray approximately 10 days after the first application if the pest population continues to increase.
Third Application:
Apply when the brown planthopper density reaches a high level (approximately 5,000 insects per square meter).
Case 3: Fields with Severe Brown Planthopper Infestations
If brown planthopper pressure is extremely high (more than 5,000 insects per square meter), the migration period is prolonged, multiple pest generations are present, and environmental conditions are unfavorable for fungal development, a selective chemical insecticide may be applied once to rapidly reduce the pest population. Afterward, the green fungus should be sprayed one to two additional times.
Application Rate
- Mix one package of the fungal preparation with enough water for four 16-liter sprayers (remove any sediment before spraying).
- Add 5 cc of adhesive agent (sticker/spreader) to each 16-liter sprayer.
- Apply two 16-liter sprayers per 1,000 m² of rice field.
- Recommended dosage: 5 packages per hectare.
Spraying Method
- Spray thoroughly to ensure both sides of the rice leaves are evenly wetted.
- Apply during the late afternoon or early morning, when environmental conditions are favorable for fungal activity.
Important Notes
When using the green fungus biopesticide, avoid applying fungicide products containing antifungal active ingredients within three days before or three days after the fungal application, as these chemicals may reduce the effectiveness of the beneficial fungus.
