Innovation towards green agriculture and climate change adaptation

In the face of the increasingly evident impacts of climate change and market demands for sustainable development, agricultural innovation is shifting its focus beyond mere productivity enhancement toward the efficient use of resources, waste reduction, and the mitigation of environmental impacts. This serves as a foundation for the gradual establishment of green and circular production models tailored to the region's specific conditions.

At the seminar, the role of science and technology was highlighted in the context of enhancing the value of agricultural products. Applying technology to production, processing, and preservation can facilitate the efficient use of raw materials, reduce post-harvest losses, and enable the utilization of agricultural by-products, thereby boosting the efficiency of the entire value chain.

For Can Tho and the Mekong Delta, this approach holds special significance, given the region's strengths in rice, fruit, aquatic products, and various signature agricultural commodities. Integrating technological innovation, the circular economy, and transformed production methods will create opportunities to enhance product value while better meeting the market's increasingly stringent environmental standards.

By facilitating connections between technology supply and demand, the seminar opens up opportunities for enterprises, cooperatives, and OCOP entities to access solutions tailored to their practical needs. In doing so, innovation serves not only as a driver of competitiveness but also contributes to developing a Mekong Delta agricultural sector that is green, efficient, circular, and more resilient to climate change.
