As digital transformation continues to advance and efforts to improve product quality management are strengthened, traceability is playing an increasingly important role for businesses, regulatory agencies, and consumers. To assess the suitability of the Can Tho City Product and Goods Traceability Management System in relation to actual production activities, the Center for Science and Technology Application and Advancement organized a series of inspections, surveys, and direct working sessions with 20 enterprises and production establishments across Can Tho City.

During the working sessions, the responsible staff focused on surveying the actual production processes of each enterprise, while also examining the use of components of the traceability system, including product traceability codes, such as labels and QR codes, as well as information updated on the system.

In addition to examining the use of traceability codes, the working team also compared data recorded in the system with documents, records, and production logs maintained at each stage of the production process. Information concerning incoming raw materials, production time, pre-processing, processing, quality inspection, packaging, storage, and distribution was reviewed to assess the completeness, accuracy, and connectivity of traceability data.

Through the surveys, the Center identified both the advantages and challenges faced by businesses in operating the system. Areas of particular attention included procedures for updating information, managing traceability codes, using data carriers, and maintaining records that are consistent with actual production processes.

The inspections and surveys were conducted not only to assess the level of implementation among businesses but also to gather practical feedback, identify areas that remain unsuitable, and propose solutions for further system improvement. In particular, direct engagement at production facilities provided staff with a more specific understanding of the needs, production characteristics, and capacity of each business to apply traceability solutions.

From a public management perspective, the objective of the survey activities is to develop a traceability system that is accessible and convenient to use while ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and verifiability of information. When system data are generated from actual production records and linked to product traceability codes, consumers and relevant stakeholders will have a stronger basis for learning about the origin and production journey of products.

Through inspection and survey activities, the Center for Science and Technology Application and Advancement continues to accompany businesses in implementing traceability, gradually raising awareness of the role of data in production management and product quality control. This also provides an important foundation for further improving the Can Tho City Product and Goods Traceability Management System, enabling it to better meet the practical needs of businesses and management requirements during the digital transformation process.

These efforts contribute to building a more transparent production and business environment, enhancing the reputation, value, and competitiveness of enterprises, while promoting the application of digital technologies in the management and development of products and goods throughout Can Tho City.
